Before You Begin

This website features the Terra series, a collection of fanfiction centered on Shadow × Knuckles.

Terra is a mythological story world in which the souls of Shadow and Knuckles resonate with one another and become part of a myth.

While its structure resembles the original Sonic universe, different chains of cause and effect overlap and intertwine, giving rise to a mythology of its own.

In Terra, the relationship between Shadow and Knuckles is portrayed as an inevitability that repeats itself—destiny becoming myth.

Even if it could only exist within the imagined world of fanfiction, I wanted to read a story in which Knuckles saves Shadow’s lonely soul, and an epic story in which everything revolves around Knuckles.

That eventually ledz me to one simple conclusion:

“Then why not create a Shadknux mythology?”

And that is how the Terra series came to be.

Terra is strongly influenced by the Kojiki, Japan’s oldest surviving collection of myths.

In the Kojiki, sexuality and the body are closely intertwined with the creation of life and the land, as well as with deeply human qualities. The gods are sacred beings, yet they are strangely human—and at times even vulgar. Sexuality itself is not inherently treated as sinful or shameful.

Like the Kojiki, Terra presents sexual desire, romance, the body, motherhood, and every aspect of human nature as coexisting with sacredness within a single world.

For this reason, sexual themes in Terra are not portrayed as corruption, impurity, or something opposed to sacredness. With sexuality understood as something akin to life itself, it is treated simply as one of the natural aspects possessed by the characters who inhabit this mythological world.
